A look at Georgia Tech 2024 by the numbers

FSU football will look to extend its winning streak from the regular season in Dublin, Ireland against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Noles enter the contest as -11.5 betting favorites and 55.5 points total. Those odds predict a 34-22 victory for the Noles.

The Yellow Jackets have won four of their last six games in 2023, with two losses to Clemson and Georgia.

This is how they finished the 2023 season:

-Offensive FEI (adjusted for opponents, without garbage time): No. 31 national

-Defensive FEI (adjusted for opponents, without garbage time): No. 77 nationally

Georgia Tech relies on its running game, with its leading running back Jamal Haynes and quarterback Haynes King providing a consistent dose of effort. They ran the ball 56 percent of the time and employed plenty of eye candy and misdirection. King isn’t accurate (61 percent completions) and attempts just 7.7 yards per pass. He had 16 interceptions last year but was only sacked on about four percent of their pass plays because they typically get rid of them quickly. Georgia Tech has struggled against the better defenses they’ve faced. They managed just 3.91 ypp against Clemson and 4.72 ypp against Miami. However, they allowed 6.33 ypp or more six times last year. They struggled stopping the run and lacked a pass rush, although they were opportunistic on defense with 25 turnovers. It will be the first year under new defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci, who was DC at Duke last year. FSU averaged 6.18 ypp against his defense last year. If FSU stops the run against Georgia Tech, it will be a long night for Hayne King. It will be especially long if they can’t stop FSU’s run game, and I bet they can’t.
