A briefing will be held on the “significant development” in the Morgan Nick case

ALMA, Ark. (KAIT) – A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday regarding a nearly 30-year-old kidnapping case in Arkansas.

Alma Police Chief Jeff Pointer will hold a news conference at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 1 to report “a significant development” in the investigation into the 1995 kidnapping of Morgan Nick, according to a news release.

Nick was last seen on June 9, 1995 at the Alma Little League Ball Field after he went catching fireflies with other children.

In November 2021, the FBI said Billy Jack Lincks of Crawford County was being investigated as a person of interest in the case. He died in prison in 2000, arrested for attempting to kidnap a girl months after Nick’s disappearance. Lincks was serving a prison sentence for sexual indecency with a child.

In April 2021, Alma Police released a photo showing a truck containing an RV that was known to be at the ball field at the time of Nick’s disappearance. In June 2020, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children released an age-graded photo showing what Nick might have looked like at age 31.

Nick’s disappearance led to the creation of the Morgan Nick Foundation with the intention of helping find Nick and other missing children.
