Snowfall is possible in Colorado’s higher peaks early in the season Wednesday night through Thursday.

Although it is not too unusual, the first snow in September is always exciting… at least for those who are eagerly awaiting winter. In 2023 Pikes Peak and several other peaks The first snow fell on September 11th.

It has been mild so far, and overnight lows will be just a few degrees above freezing. The snow that does fall will be hard to settle on, and what little snow does fall will melt quickly.

Denver will likely have to wait more than a month for the first snowfall of the season. The average first measurable snowfall in Denver is October 18, although the earliest snowfall recorded in the city was September 3, 1961.
