The Biden administration is expected to accuse Russia of making a sustained attempt to influence the 2024 U.S. presidential election by targeting American voters through state-run media and other online platforms.

Fox News confirmed that Russia-linked companies will be targeted by the Justice Department. A CNN report said the Justice Department is expected to name Kremlin-backed television network RT as a key player in the covert campaign. Attorney General Merrick Garland is expected to comment on the matter this afternoon.

When asked by Fox News Digital for a response to the allegations, RT said: “We definitely have a response. Actually, we had several, but we couldn’t decide on one (we even considered doing a poll in the office), so here they are.”

“The year 2016 called and wants its cliches back,” was among them, as well as: “Three things are certain in life: death, taxes and RT’s interference in the US elections,” “We have to earn our Kremlin paycheck somehow,” and “Somewhere, Secretary of State Clinton is sad that it’s not her fault.”

In July, FBI Director Christopher Wray told the House Judiciary Committee: “We believe that the Russian government continues to seek to influence and interfere in a variety of ways with our democracy and electoral process.”

“We’ve seen this in election cycle after election cycle,” Wray said.

This move also came after the Justice Ministry ordered RT to register as a “foreign agent” in 2017.

The agency stated at the time: “T&R Productions, LLC (T&R), a Washington, DC-based company, is registered with the Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act as an agent for ANO TV-Novosti, the Russian government agency responsible for the worldwide broadcasts of the RT Network (RT).”

“Since August 2014, T&R has operated studios for RT, hired and paid all of RT’s U.S.-based employees, and produced English-language programs for RT that are shown on cable networks throughout the United States and available on RT’s website,” it said.

Former Defense Intelligence Agency (DNI) official Rebekah Koffler previously told Fox News Digital that RT and other foreign propaganda were part of the permanent cyber war that Russia was waging against the West.

“They don’t just engage in propaganda during wartime, during conflict,” she said in 2022. “They engage in it during peacetime, too. They constantly slander the United States and misrepresent foreign policy goals… I’m just saying that if we allow their propaganda channels to broadcast unhindered, we are tilting the playing field in Russia’s favor.”

“RT is a 100 percent Russian government-controlled channel and its sole purpose is to influence the American people and all broadcasters to the Russian point of view and to present events on the ground the way the Russians want them to be presented to the rest of the world. If the US does not want that, it would be appropriate to shut down the channel,” Koffler added.
