Tropical activity increases in the Atlantic

It was one of the quietest phases of tropical activity in more than 50 yearsBut the Atlantic is getting hotter as forecasters continue to monitor three tropical turbulences that could develop over the next week.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two areas of severe weather in the Atlantic ocean while a third area winds across the Caribbean and lies on a path that could eventually take it to the warmer waters of the Bay of Campeche and the Gulf of Mexico.

Flood risk increases in the humid south

New Orleans is in the crosshairs for rain on Wednesday as a storm system lingers over the South and Southeastfueled by a stalled cold front.

The front will act as a conveyor belt for precipitation and thunderstorms, but rain chances will gradually decrease each day this week. The risk of flash flooding will remain until the system exits the region.

Regard: ‘Extremely rare’ orange lobster rescued from New York fish shop

A rare orange lobster was released back into the sea at the end of August after being caught in the fish department of a new York grocery store. An animal rescue group released the lobster, saying the crustacean was “an extremely rare orange lobster, with only 1 in 30 million remaining.”

The lobster was originally found earlier this year Summer at a Stop and Shop in the Southampton neighborhood of Long Island. It was part of a shipment of traditional brown lobsters.
