Caitlin Clark will reach the WNBA playoffs in her rookie season.
The rookie star guard led the Indiana Fever to their first playoff berth since 2016 on Tuesday night, despite it being a down day for the team.
This also ended the franchise’s seven-year losing streak, the longest in WNBA history.
The No. 1 draft pick, widely considered the favorite for WNBA Rookie of the Year, and the Fever made the playoffs thanks to Las Vegas’ 90-71 win over Chicago and Phoenix’s 74-66 victory over Atlanta on Tuesday night.
Indiana, which moved to 17-16 after a win on Sunday, has its first win since June 2019 and is in sixth place.
Eight teams have qualified for the WNBA playoffs and seven spots are now filled.
Phoenix (17-17) also secured its playoff spot on Tuesday after missing the postseason last year for the first time since 2012.
Chicago and Atlanta, both 11-22, are battling for the final spot with Washington, which beat Dallas 90-86 on Tuesday and is 10-23.
The New York Liberty, Connecticut, Minnesota, Las Vegas and Seattle had already qualified for the postseason.
Clark had an impressive rookie season.
In 33 games, she averaged 18.7 points per game, 8.4 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Clark, who led the Iowa Hawkeyes to two NCAA championship games during her illustrious career, became the leading scorer in Division I basketball history earlier this year.
This impressive performance recently led to the end of the friendship between two WNBA legends, Nancy Lieberman and Sheryl Swoopes.
