Addicted to your phone? The world’s first CHASTITY BELT for smartphones has been introduced – would you try it?

  • First chastity belt for your phone promises “protection from temptation”
  • The bizarre device is the brainchild of The Coach and is expected to retail for $100

For many people, a few minutes without a phone can feel like an eternity.

If your phone addiction is getting too much, there’s good news: help is at hand.

The world’s first “chastity belt for your phone” has been unveiled, promising to “protect you from temptation.”

The bizarre device is the brainchild of men’s health app The Coach and is set to retail for $100 (£78).

“You lock it with your phone and give the key to someone you trust,” explained Lindsay Stevens, a spokeswoman for The Coach. “This protects you from temptation.”

Chastity belts were devices worn by women in the Middle Ages to prevent both unwanted advances and sexual temptation.

The coach was inspired by these devices, but with a modern touch.

The new chastity belt is not worn by women, but is attached over the front of your phone and secured with a key, which you can then give to someone you trust.

Unlike traditional cell phone cases that come in different sizes for different models, the chastity belt features leather straps that can be adjusted to fit your device.

The first version is designed for smartphones, but The Coach says more versions are possible in the future.

“The coach has also commissioned versions of the design suitable for both laptops and desktops, while the version for your phone will be available in both landscape (wider than tall) and portrait (taller than wide) formats,” he explained.

The new devices are expected to retail for around $100 (£78).

“However, at this stage, The Coach is simply testing the market by unveiling a product video and images and measuring the response,” the team added.

The launch comes shortly after a survey found that British adults are more addicted to their phones than adults in France, Germany and the US.

According to a representative survey of 8,000 people, 44 percent of adults in the UK check their phone every hour, compared to 29 percent in France, 25 percent in Germany and 41 percent in the US.

The study, conducted by think tank More In Common, also found that 14 percent of British adults never go more than 15 minutes without looking at their phone.
