Tropical threats move across the Caribbean and the Eastern Atlantic

Meteorologists from the National hurricane The National Disaster Management Center (NHC) continues to monitor two disruptions for possible developments as we approach the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season 2024.

The first problem area is in the eastern Caribbean, while the second is off the coast of Africa. The NHC gives both systems a medium probability of developing into a tropical depression in the next seven days.

Further flooding and rain in the drenched south

After a relatively dry August, drought-stricken Texas is making up for its rainfall deficit as a low-pressure system moves over parts of the Lone Star State, bringing rain to the region.

Several inches of rain are possible in some areas. Flood warnings and alerts remain in effect across the region through Tuesday.
