The 10 best Monday Night Football games in this season’s NFL schedule

The first Monday Night Football game of the 2024 NFL season will take place in a week when the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers face off on September 9.

Ahead of the MNF season opener, here are the top 10 Monday Night Football games to watch this season.

10. Week 9: Buccaneers at Chiefs

This is a rematch of the only Super Bowl Patrick Mahomes lost, but Tom Brady is no longer the Buccaneers’ quarterback. That job belongs to Baker Mayfield, who managed to lead the Buccaneers to the playoffs last season.

9. Week 3: Bengals Commanders

If Jayden Daniels starts his rookie season strong, this could be a great game. Even if he doesn’t, the Bengals aren’t known for starting the season well either, which could make this game close.

8. Week 3: Jaguars at Bills

The Bills have obviously been the better team of late, but the Jaguars seem to be outplaying the Bills. The Jaguars have beaten the Bills in each of the last two meetings between these teams, including a 25-20 win last season. This is also the second game of a Week 3 doubleheader on Monday Night Football.

7. Week 6: Bills at Jets

The last time these two teams faced off on Monday Night Football, Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles tendon on the opening series. This game offers a rematch and, ideally, a great matchup between Rodgers and Josh Allen.

6. Week 11: Texans at Cowboys

The Battle for Texas will see the two playoff contenders square off at AT&T Stadium. If Dak Prescott can outperform CJ Stroud on his home turf, it could give him a huge advantage next season and earn him a huge contract.

5. Week 1: Jets at 49ers

This game will depend largely on how Aaron Rodgers plays in his first game back after his Achilles tendon rupture. However, Rodgers will once again face the team that chose Alex Smith over him.

Jets-49ers also shows how Jets head coach Robert Saleh is elevating his former team, the 49ers.

4. Week 12: Ravens at Chargers

Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL and with it the Harbaugh Bowl.

Jim and John Harbaugh faced each other twice as NFL head coaches, with John defeating his brother 2-0. The storyline will dominate this game, but the matchup itself could be great if the Chargers play to their potential.

3. Week 10: Dolphins at Rams

In a rare interconference matchup, the Dolphins will travel to SoFi Stadium looking to beat the Rams in a game that features some of the NFL’s best receivers: Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp.

2. Week 14: Bengals at Cowboys

Joe Burrow will face the Dallas Cowboys for the first time in his career after missing the 2020 game with a torn ACL. The Bengals and Cowboys have two of the NFL’s best young receivers in CeeDee Lamb and Ja’Marr Chase, respectively, and if they perform well, it should be an exciting game.

1. Week 17: Lions at 49ers

The Monday Night Football program ends with a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship Game. The Lions held a long lead before the 49ers made a comeback and advanced to the Super Bowl.

This game could well determine who will be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and receive a first-round bye. Will the Lions get revenge? Or will the 49ers hold onto their position?
