Jaren Hall is back in the NFL – Deseret News

Four days after being released by the Minnesota Vikings, former BYU Cougars quarterback Jaren Hall has found a new job in the NFL.

On Monday morning, the Seattle Seahawks announced that they had signed Hall to their practice squad. Hall will be the third quarterback on the Seahawks’ roster, joining starter Geno Smith and new addition Sam Howell.

On August 29, ESPN Seahawks sportscaster Brady Henderson wrote on X that Hall was “a name to keep in mind” as the team was interested in selecting him in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hall, 26, originally made the Vikings’ 53-man roster after cutdown day last Tuesday, but was released Thursday as Minnesota signed quarterback Brett Rypien to add more veterans to the team’s quarterback group behind starter Sam Darnold and backup Nick Mullens (rookie and first-round draft pick JJ McCarthy was scheduled to start but suffered a season-ending injury during the preseason).

Hall, a fifth-round pick of the Vikings (164th overall) out of BYU, appeared in three games as a rookie last season, two of them as a starter, as Minnesota struggled with a series of injuries at the quarterback position.

He completed 13 of 20 passes for 168 yards this season, with no touchdowns and one interception. He was very good in the preseason this year, completing 28 of 46 passes for 339 yards, with four touchdowns.
