Betty A. Bridges, mother of “Diff’rent Strokes” star Todd Bridges and “Good Times” actress, dies at the age of 83
Betty Bridges, Todd Bridges’ mother, has died. She was 83.
“Betty Alice Bridges … passed away peacefully two days ago,” a spokesperson for Betty confirmed to Fox News Digital on Friday.
Betty was being cared for at Todd’s home in Phoenix, Arizona, before her death. On Thursday, the actor posted a photo of his mother on Instagram with the caption “1941-2024 Betty Bridges.”

He also shared a collage of images compiled into a video honoring his mother while playing “I Love You Always Forever (Acoustic)” by Everly Fair.

Other stars also immediately expressed their condolences to Todd. Lenny Kravitz wrote: “Rest in peace, Queen.” Yvette Nicole Brown wrote: “Oh Todd, I am so sorry for your loss!”

She played a critical role in Todd’s recovery from addiction, Betty’s rep said. “Her tough love and unwavering support underscore the profound influence of family and friends in overcoming life’s toughest struggles.”
Betty was a well-known actress, best remembered for her roles in “Good Times,” “ER,” and “2 Broke Girls.” She also appeared in “Quincy M.E,” “Diff’rent Strokes,” and “Wonder Woman.”

She was a Hollywood executive and acting teacher. Betty co-founded the acting school Kane Bridge Academy. She eventually moved the school to her home in Los Angeles and gave free lessons to the children in her neighborhood.
Her students included Nia Long, sisters Regina and Reina King, and Sanaa Lathan.
Betty is survived by her sons Todd, Jimmy Bridges and Zerondrick Hubbard, her daughter Verda Bridges Prpich and her 12 grandchildren.
