Severe weather is forecast for the Detroit metropolitan area over Labor Day weekend – here’s what you can expect

4Warn Weather – There is a chance that the storm will ease on Friday evening, but we are not quite out of the woods yet.

This is especially true north of I-69, where severe weather warnings have been issued for Genessee and Lapeer counties.

The storm front that has formed to the west of us is moving at a ridiculously slow speed.

Most are running out of steam, but we remain in a very unstable air mass, so any of these storms could still have enough energy to become strong. I’ll be here all evening to keep you updated.

Anything is possible: wind, hail, floods and even a single tornado cannot be ruled out.

There may be some showers and possibly a few thunderstorms at night.

Saturday

Saturday morning starts cloudy, but the sun breaks through the clouds and gives us a nice start to the holiday weekend.

Sunday

A very weak cold front will pass through on Sunday and could bring some drizzle, but otherwise it looks like a dry, pleasant Labor Day weekend.

I’ll follow the storms until we give the all-clear. See you at 11 p.m.
