Adele takes a “break” after her performance in Las Vegas

During her headline show in Munich last night (August 31), Adele announced that she would be taking a long “break” after the end of her current engagement. “I just need a break,” the visibly moved singer told the audience on stage. “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now.”

Adele continued: “Thank you to everyone who has ever come to one of my shows. I know I’m not the most relaxed artist but I’m damn good at it and I’ve really enjoyed performing for nearly three years. That’s the longest I’ve ever done it and probably the longest I’ll ever do it. I’ve got 10 shows after that, back in residency… but after that I won’t see you for an incredibly long time and you will be in my heart for my entire break… I want to live my new life that I’ve built for myself. I’m going to miss you terribly but I’ll remember these shows forever.”

Saturday night’s Munich concert was originally planned to be the finale of Adele’s tour, but a handful of postponed dates means she will now finish the tour with her Las Vegas appearance in November. The British singer performed in a specially built arena at Munich’s Messe, which held 80,000 people and was created exclusively for her special headlining shows there. Taking to social media, Adele called the mini-performance in Munich “a bit random, but fabulous nonetheless!”
