17-year-old injured in shooting in Wrens near Pine Valley Apartments

WRENS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A teenager suffered a gunshot wound early Thursday in Wrens, the latest in a wave of violence in the small town of fewer than 2,500 residents, authorities said.

Wrens Police Chief John Maynard said officers were dispatched to the Pine Valley Apartments area shortly before 1 a.m. to investigate a shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the upper arm area, officers said.

According to authorities, the victim was taken by ambulance to WellStar MCG Hospital in Augusta.

According to officials, several vehicles and at least one apartment were hit by the shots.

Officers are actively working on the investigation, but neither the victim nor witnesses have yet come forward with details about the possible shooter, a description or the motives behind the shooting.
