Philadelphia suburbans warned of election phishing scams

What questions do you have about the 2024 election? What important issues do you want the candidates to address? Let us know.

A text message phishing scam is targeting registered voters in the Philadelphia suburbs.

The message tells the recipient that he or she is not registered to vote and asks him or her to enter his or her personal information on “AllVote.com,” an unverified and unsafe website.

In one district, the authorities are actively trying to educate the residents.

“We ask citizens to remain vigilant and be careful with their personal information,” said Jamila H. Winder, chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “It is an unfortunate reality that these bad actors know how important voting is to the citizens of Montgomery County and are taking advantage of that to take advantage of them. We need to be aware of this and protect our personal information.”

Voter registration status can be checked on the Pennsylvania Department of State website.

Montgomery County Commissioner Tom DiBello urged residents to “never share personal information with an unknown source.”

Montgomery County officials have reminded citizens that all government communications regarding voting will be clearly marked and encourage citizens with any concerns to contact Voter Services at [email protected] or 610-278-3280.
