Here is more NFL news from the Associated Press:

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Two weeks into New York Jets training camp, there is still no sign of Haason Reddick.

The star edge rusher’s contract extension was 14 days on Monday as he is looking for a new deal after signing from Philadelphia during the offseason.

“I still have nothing,” coach Robert Saleh said when asked if there was any news on Reddick’s situation.

Reddick, 29, was placed on the reserve/non-reporting list on July 25, the Jets’ second day of practice, in the hope that the contract dispute would be resolved soon. Instead, it dragged on and became a daily storyline for New York.

“Nothing surprises me in the league anymore,” said Saleh.

Reddick has been absent all offseason since being signed by the Jets. He is set to earn a base salary of $14.25 million in the final year of his contract.

The defensive end began the offseason looking for a new contract and was given permission by the Eagles to seek a trade during the offseason. Reddick’s salary for this season is not guaranteed.

He gave up a $250,000 training bonus for not attending the Jets’ offseason workouts. Because he missed the first two weeks of training camp, Reddick also faces a $700,000 fine – and the number is rising.

“I guess it doesn’t matter what I thought at the time,” Saleh said when asked if he could have imagined Reddick lasting as long as he did when the trade was made. “The reality is he’s not here.”

Reddick, a first-round pick out of Arizona in 2017, has double-digit sack numbers in four consecutive seasons, including 27 in the last two years with the Eagles. He is expected to bolster the Jets’ pass rush and replace Bryce Huff and John Franklin-Myers on the defensive line.

But because of Reddick’s absence, Micheal Clemons and Will McDonald are being used more frequently as defensive ends alongside Jermaine Johnson in training camp.

“There are a lot of guys working their asses off,” Saleh said. “Will McDonald is getting a lot of reps that he wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. And he’s improving every day.”

Despite Reddick’s absence, Saleh is still not concerned that it could become a problem for the edge rusher in terms of his conditioning and acclimation to the defensive system.

“It’s not the easiest position,” Saleh said, “but it’s the last position where I’m afraid of not staying up to date.”

NOTES: Saleh said he and his team have no final plans yet on who will play in Saturday’s season opener against Washington and for how long. The coach had previously said QB Aaron Rodgers will not play in the first two games and it was his “instinct” not to have him play in the season finale against the Giants on Aug. 24, but that was still open for discussion. … LT Tyron Smith has been dealing with lower-body tightness and has been held out of practice. Saleh expected to return Tuesday.
