Rebecca Ferguson stars alongside Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy in the film adaptation of a classic children’s novel

Rebecca Ferguson joins the cast of the film adaptation of The magical faraway tree. The film is based on the classic children’s novel of the same name, the second book in a four-part series by author Enid Blyton. The stories are set in an enchanted forest where a giant, magical tree grows so tall that its highest branches reach the clouds, and so wide that houses are carved into its trunk. The film follows Polly (Claire Foy) and Tim Thompson (Andrew Garfield) as they move with their three children to the remote English countryside where they find the tree.




Deadline reports that Ferguson is working with Foy and Garfield on the adaptation of The magical faraway treewhich will be directed by Ben Gregor. Details are scarce, but Ferguson will play Dame Snapa headmistress and a character who has been described as Blyton’s most famous villain. Dame Snap, known as Dame Slap in earlier versions of the books, runs a school for evil elves and is described as aggressive and incredibly entertaining.

Ferguson remains a sought-after name in the industry as she has several exciting projects on screen and streaming services. One of her most anticipated projects is the upcoming Peaky Blinders Film with Cillian Murphy; she also compassion with Chris Pratt and the upcoming untitled Kathryn Bigelow film for Netflix. She will also reprise her role as Juliette Nichols in Apple TV+’s silo Season 2.


Ferguson’s career really took off in 2015 with her role in Mission Impossible – Rogue Nationwhere she plays a strong-willed and resourceful femme fatale character, Ilsa Faust. She later returned for two more Mission: Impossible Films. Ferguson thus established her skills in action roles. However, She is not limited to one genreas she has also tried her hand at science fiction (dune), horror (Doctor Sleep) and musicals (The greatest showman).

With The magical faraway tree, Ferguson will once again play a villain, following her role as Rose the Hat in Doctor Sleep. But her character Dame Snap will probably be a more light-hearted and fantastic villainmore like the kind of villains you see in early Harry Potter Movies. Since Ferguson’s roles usually lean more towards adult films, it will be exciting to see her in the role of a family-friendly villain who still has the potential for menacing scenes. In every role, Ferguson delivers, so her role in The magical faraway tree is eagerly awaited.
