MONROE – A 4-year-old child has died after being found unconscious in a pond about 50 feet from the back patio of the family’s home.

The gender of the child and the location of the drowning were not disclosed by authorities.

At around 6:48 p.m. Tuesday, Monroe police received a 911 call about a missing four-year-old child. When police arrived at the scene, they began searching for the child, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Monroe Police Chief Griffin M. Banos.
