A look at the damage left by severe storms in the Detroit metropolitan area

Many people and cities are busy cleaning up on Wednesday morning after severe storms passed through the Detroit metropolitan area overnight.

As of 7:50 a.m. Wednesday morning, more than 200,000 DTE Energy customers were still without power. Severe storms in the early hours of Wednesday, August 28, 2024, caused power lines to be downed and trees to be uprooted.

Records indicate wind speeds reached about 70 miles per hour.

Restaurant in Macomb County closes abruptly after 4 years

A Macomb County restaurant says after four years in business, it’s time to move on.

Bobcat Bonnie’s of Partridge Creek in Clinton Township closed its doors on Sunday, four years after opening. The restaurant originally opened in February 2020, just before the pandemic hit Michigan.

Use a “lunch formula” to pack your child’s lunch

Lunch doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect to be a hit with your kids.

Jennifer Hyland is a registered dietitian at Cleveland Clinic Children’s.

“The most important thing is that we make lunches that A. the kids will eat and B. are good for them and give them energy throughout the day. So my biggest tip for parents is to try to choose something from each food group,” Hyland said.
