Sheridan HS Volleyball:

The Wyoming high school golf and tennis seasons have already begun, and all other fall sports begin next weekend.

That includes volleyball, and Sheridan believes the team has a tough task ahead of it.

The Lady Broncs haven’t been to the state tournament since 2016, so none of the current players know what it’s like.

New head coach Daniel Torpey says her players are well aware of this fact and have decided that simply making the state tournament this year is not enough.

Sheridan starts his season this weekend at the Cheyenne Invitational.

On Friday the team will play against Rock Springs, Rawlins and Star Valley.

Saturday’s opponents are Green River and Kelly Walsh.

Coach Torpey says playing against different West teams presents a unique situation for her as she will be competing against old coaches she has played for and against.

Big Horn/Tongue River/Arvada-Clearmont Volleyball: Reigning 2A state champion Big Horn will begin its season at the Douglas Invitational.

On Friday, the Lady Rams will play against Wheatland, Alliance, Nebraska and Newcastle.

Saturday’s schedule is based on Friday’s results.

Tongue River will play in the North Big Horn County Invitational at Rocky Mountain High School.

The Lady Eagles will play against St. Stephens, Burlington and Greybull on Friday.

The schedule for Saturday will be announced soon.

Arvada-Clearmont will play Friday in the Dogger Invitational at Lingle-Ft. Laramie.

The Lady Panthers will compete against the host team as well as Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow, Rock River and Lusk.

Golf at Sheridan County High School: Sheridan will be back in action tomorrow and Friday at a two-day meet in Gillette.

Big Horn and Tongue River play in a one-day meet at Moorcroft on Friday.

Denver Broncos retain former UW Cowboy Frank Crum: All NFL teams had to reduce their rosters to 53 players by 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time yesterday.

This included the Denver Broncos, who decided to keep a former Wyoming Cowboy on the team for the time being.

Offensive tackle Frank Crum, who signed with the team as a non-drafted free agent, remains on the roster.

Head coach Sean Payton said he was pleased with his performance at right tackle in the final two preseason games.

Crum graduated from Laramie High School in 2018 and played five seasons for the Cowboys, being named All-Mountain West Conference three times, including first-team All-Conference last year.

The Denver Broncos regular season begins on Sunday, September 8, in Seattle.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies led 8-4 at home against Miami until the 9th inning last night, but then the bullpen collapsed, allowing 5 runs and the team ended up losing 9-8.

Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo, 2-run home run in the game, and Sam Hilliard himself had a solo blast.

Game 3 of the 4-game series begins today at 6:40 p.m.
