Armie Hammer trades in his truck for a less expensive sized vehicle.

The Social network The actor has moved to his hometown of Los Angeles in the last two weeks and explained his decision in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

“I’ve put about four or five hundred dollars worth of gas in the tank since I got back to LA,” Hammer said of his truck. “And I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore.”

Hammer, the great-grandson of 1950s oil magnate Armand Hammer, said he had found cheaper transportation options.

“I have a new car,” he revealed. “It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’ll probably spend about $10 a month on gas.”

Still, he lamented the loss of the truck, which has sentimental value: It brought his two children home from the hospital, went on camping trips and cross-country drives. Hammer said he bought it as a gift for himself in 2017.

The last road trip took him to CarMax, a company that buys used cars. He noted that the post was “not an advertisement for CarMax.”

The Call me by your name Star said he “loved that truck intensely,” but it was necessary.

“I just keep telling myself that parking will be easier and gas will be cheaper,” he said.

Hammer celebrates his 39th birthday on August 28 and said: “I will start my birthday with a new car, a new apartment, a new life…”

Hammer’s last film was Death on the Nilewhich was released in 2022. Starting in 2021, the actor faced allegations of rape, abuse, and cannibalism. He denied any wrongdoing and insisted that his relationships were consensual. Los Angeles authorities investigated him, but prosecutors declined to press charges.

Hammer subsequently separated from his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers.

“I’m actually at a point now where I’m really grateful for it, because before all of this happened to me, I wasn’t doing well,” Hammer said. “I was never satisfied. I never had enough. I never knew how to give myself appreciation, but I had this job where I could get it from so many people that I never had to learn how to give it to myself.”
