Texas Tech Announces Gameday Upgrades and Information for 2024 Season

LUBBOCK, Texas (PRESS RELEASE) – The new South End Zone Building won’t be the only new addition to Jones AT&T Stadium this season, as Texas Tech will introduce several new game day improvements when the Red Raiders open the 2024 season with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday night against Abilene Christian.

Below is a list of improvements fans can expect at Jones AT&T Stadium this season.

“TAP AND GO” MOBILE TICKET SYSTEM SPEEDS UP ENTRY INTO THE STADIUM | INFORMATION ON THE DIGITAL TICKET

Texas Tech will implement a new “Tap and Go” mobile ticketing system this season to provide fans with faster entry each game day. All football tickets, including premium tickets, will remain 100 percent mobile, but will no longer use a QR code for scanning. Instead, fans will place their downloaded mobile ticket near ticket scanners, which will wirelessly identify each mobile ticket. Fans with multiple tickets must swipe horizontally to each ticket and hold it near the scanner to gain entry.

Most importantly, Texas Tech will no longer accept screenshots of mobile tickets to further protect ticket holders from fraud or fake purchases. Fans who need to transfer their tickets can do so online through their TexasTech.com account or by using the official Texas Tech mobile app. Step-by-step instructions can be found here via TexasTech+.

SINGLE GAME TICKETS FOR ALL SEVEN HOME GAMES STILL ON SALE

Fans still have time to secure their seats for all seven Saturdays at Jones AT&T Stadium this season, as single-game tickets are still available through the Athletic Ticket Office. Tickets can be purchased online at TexasTech.com or by calling a ticket agent at 806-742-TECH. Texas Tech announced Monday that fewer than 500 tickets remain for this Saturday’s game against ACU.

TEXAS TECH ADDS THREE NEW STADIUM ENTRY GATES

Texas Tech added three new entry gates to Jones AT&T Stadium this season, located in the new South End Zone Building. Gates 8 and 10 serve all fans on the west or east side of the stadium, while fans with premium seating in the South End Zone Building can enter through Gate 9. The new South End Zone Building features an expanded concourse that allows fans easy 360-degree access to the stadium concourse.

SIXTH STREET REOPENS TO PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC

Texas Tech will reopen Sixth Street between the South End Zone Building and the Sports Performance Center to pedestrian traffic in the coming days before Saturday’s season opener against Abilene Christian. The area was previously closed due to construction on the South End Zone Building and the Dustin R. Womble Football Center project. Access to areas near the Womble Football Center will remain restricted to pedestrians until the project is completed in the fall.

TEXAS TECH OPENS SOUTH END ZONE WITH DRONE SHOW

Texas Tech will celebrate the official opening of Jones AT&T Stadium’s South End Zone Building with a drone show before the fourth quarter of the Abilene Christian game. Texas Tech Athletics already hosted the university’s first-ever drone show last November, thrilling fans during the Red Raiders’ victory over TCU.

RAIDER WALK RETURNS TO ROUTE IN 2022

The Raider Walk will return to its original route this season, as the Red Raiders will be dropped off just south of the Sports Performance Center each game day. Fans are encouraged to line up in the streets approximately two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff as head coach Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders walk north down Champions Avenue Drive to their game day locker room in the new South End Zone Building.

BIG CHICKEN AMONG THE NEW CONCESSION OPTIONS

Texas Tech will expand its concession offerings this season with the addition of Big Chicken, as well as two new grab-and-go marketplaces. Big Chicken, the chain founded by Shaquille O’Neal, will be located on the southeast side of the new concourse in the south end zone, while Touchdown Tavern will be located further west offering hot food exclusively for premium ticket holders. Touchdown Tavern will also house a grab-and-go marketplace, one of two new self-service locations at Jones AT&T Stadium this season. In addition to Touchdown Tavern, Texas Tech has built a new mezzanine level market called Matador Marketplace on the west side of the stadium, offering fans four quick grab-and-go options between its original location near Gate 1 and the “Take Three” marketplace near Gate 4 in the northeast corner of the stadium.

TEXAS TECH PARTNERS WITH STADIUMDROP TO SIMPLIFY CONCESSION DELIVERY PROCESS

Fans can skip the food vendor lines this season by using StadiumDrop for seat delivery of a variety of food and alcoholic beverages. StadiumDrop is a peer-to-peer food and beverage ordering and seat delivery app that allows fans to easily order food vendors in the stadium through the Texas Tech mobile app. StadiumDrop, which is similar to many home food delivery apps, will have staff on hand at each home game to assist with seat delivery.

NEW SEATING PLACE FOR GOIN’ BAND FROM RAIDERLAND ANNOUNCED

Texas Tech will relocate Raiderland’s Goin’ Band this season from its current location in the southeast corner of Jones AT&T Stadium to Section 15, which surrounds the new visiting team tunnel in the northeast corner of the stadium. The move will open Section 23 to the Texas Tech student body, which will continue to occupy most of the lower portion of the east side of the stadium as it has in past seasons.

RED RAIDER LIGHTS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH TEXAS TECH MOBILE APP

Fans can join in on the pregame festivities at Jones AT&T Stadium through the Red Raider Lights tab on Texas Tech’s mobile app. Texas Tech has developed several fan-controlled light shows for smartphones that will be used before the Red Raiders enter Jones AT&T Stadium, as well as right before kickoff and between the third and fourth quarters. Before each game, fans must give the app permission to use the microphone, as the light show is triggered by audio cues in the stadium.

Join the pre-game party at Raider Alley, presented by Bud Light

There’s no better place to be on game days than Raider Alley, presented by Bud Light. Raider Alley opens four hours prior to kickoff every Saturday and offers plenty of entertainment for fans of all ages in the heart of the Texas Tech campus. Raider Alley is headlined each week by a pregame musical act that begins two hours prior to kickoff each week. The Raider Alley Concert Series is again sponsored by the Davis Smith law firm and features exciting acts approximately two hours prior to kickoff each week during the season. Texas Tech will open the concert series with Grammy-nominated artist Natasha Bedingfield.

JONES AT&T STADIUM REMAINS COMPLETELY CASHLESS

Jones AT&T Stadium will accept cashless payments at all points of sale, including the Texas Tech Ticket Office, all concession stands, and Red Raider Outfitter, Texas Tech Athletics’ game day retailer. Credit and debit cards and contactless payment methods are accepted at all points of sale.

CITIBUS OFFERS SHUTTLE SERVICE FOR FANS

Citibus will offer round-trip transportation starting three hours before game time until one hour after game time for just $6 per person. The pickup location is located north of the John Walker Soccer Complex (Texas Tech Parkway & 10th Street) and northwest of the Health Sciences Center (ADA only, Texas Tech Parkway & 5th Street). Citibus will also be offering fans shuttle service from the game day parking lots to Raider Alley as part of its game day transportation this season. The drop-off location at the north end of Engineering Key is in addition to the regular Citibus game day route. Citibus will only accept payments through the “Go Pass” app. Signs and QR codes will be available near each pickup location on game days.

The clear bag policy remains in effect at all sports venues.

Texas Tech’s clear bag policy will remain in effect for all athletic facilities through the 2024-25 athletic year. Fans may bring bags or packages of the following type and size into the facility:
