2 women arrested in connection with murder of 19-year-old woman in California, police say

Authorities said two women were arrested over the weekend in connection with a fatal shooting in California.

Fresno police said 19-year-old Aaliyah Bonman died after being shot in the parking lot of a Rite Aid store around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Police said officers found Bonman with a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center, where she died a few hours later, authorities said.

The homicide squad took over the investigation and identified 21-year-old Penelope Mehr as the suspected shooter.

Police said they learned that Bonman got into a physical altercation with Mehr when Mehr pulled out a gun and shot Bonman. Authorities also identified a second suspect, 18-year-old Neveah Solomon, as an accessory to the murder.

On Sunday, undercover officers found Mehr near the intersection of Second Street and Jensen Avenue and took her into custody. She was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on murder charges.

A warrant was also issued for Solomon’s arrest, and she turned herself in to authorities early Tuesday morning. She was then taken to the Fresno County Jail.
