NEW YORK CITY — A New York City corrections officer posed as a television producer and lured a 20-year-old woman to his home, where he raped and imprisoned her, prosecutors said.

Anthony Martin, 32, was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and other crimes, prosecutors said.

Martin is accused of contacting the victim through social media, posing as a producer casting for a new show and inviting her to his home, prosecutors said.

On March 26, 2024, the victim came to Martin’s home expecting to meet other producers and potential cast members.

When the 20-year-old woman arrived at Martin’s home, he was alone. When Martin began touching her leg, the woman tried to leave, prosecutors said.

Martin blocked her exit, pulled down her pants and then raped her, prosecutors said.

When the victim was finally allowed to leave Martin’s apartment, he reported the attack to the police and sought medical help.

“This defendant – a New York City correctional officer – lured a young woman to his home with the promise of casting her in an upcoming television show. Instead, he allegedly sexually assaulted her and imprisoned the woman. I thank the brave survivor for coming forward,” said District Attorney Melinda Katz. “My office advocates for victims of sexual violence and we secured a grand jury indictment against the defendant for first-degree rape.”

If convicted, Martin faces up to 25 years in prison.
