Georgia Tech releases depth chart ahead of game against Georgia State

After beating Florida State in week one, Georgia Tech will have to turn its attention to Georgia State this weekend as it will be the first meeting between the two schools. While the Yellow Jackets are clear favorites entering Saturday’s game, the Panthers will undoubtedly give them the best shot. It’s an important game for new Georgia State head coach Dell McGee and his team, and they’ll be hoping to beat Georgia Tech.

Following today’s practice, Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key met with the media. Later, the roster for the upcoming game was released, which did not contain many surprises.

Haynes King is of course listed as the starting quarterback and Zach Pyron is the backup. King had a solid game against Florida State on Saturday and also made good plays when the team needed him.

Jamal Haynes is the starting running back and according to the roster, either Trey Cooley, Chad Alexander or Anthony Carrie will take over behind Haynes.

Eric Singleton Jr., Malik Rutherford and Chase Lane are listed as wide receivers and they played the most snaps on Saturday. Leo Blackburn, Abdul Janneh, Christian Leary and Bailey Stockton also played against FSU.

Jackson Hawes or Avery Boyd will be the starting tight ends. Hawes played the most snaps on Saturday against FSU and had an effective blocking performance. Boyd had one catch on Saturday. Ryland Goede and Josh Beetham combined for 17 snaps.

The offensive line had either Jordan Brown or Corey Robinson as the starting left tackle, with the rest of the unit being completed by Joe Fusile, Weston Franklin, Keylan Rutledge and Jordan Williams.

On defense, Zeek Biggers and Makius Scott are listed as starters on the interior of the defensive line and Sylvain Yondjouen and Romello Height/Kevin Harris are listed as starters at defensive end. This group used a lot of players last week, so expect a lot of rotation on the defensive line.

Kyle Efford and Trenilyas Tatum are listed as starting linebackers. Tah’j Butler and EJ Lightsey were the only other linebackers to play on Saturday.

Ahmari Harvey and Warren Burrell were listed as starting cornerbacks and either Omar Daniels or Rodney Shelley will start at nickelback. LaMiles Brooks and Clayton Powell-Lee are listed as starting safeties. Zachary Tobe and Taye Seymore were the other DBs who played Saturday. Freshman Nehemiah Chandler and Syeed Gibbs are listed as backups.
