Harris polls worse than Biden and Hillary Clinton

Fox News’ Karl Rove warned that the Vice President’s optimism Kamala Harris’ campaign may be out of place on Tuesday, as it is polling worse than both Joe Biden was at this point in 2020 and Hillary Clinton was in 2015.

Rove’s comment followed the moderator Bret Baiers He cited a Democratic strategist’s warning that Harris’ current strategy of keeping a low profile politically and avoiding the media was “born of vanity and foolhardiness.”

“What do you think about this?” Baier asked Rove.

“She (Harris) needs to be more specific. We shouldn’t criticize her by saying she needs a Democratic Congress and a Democratic Senate to get these things done. Because the same is true of Donald Trump; he needs a Republican Senate and a Republican House to get anything done. But people want to know where you’re coming from, and they want to know enough about the specifics to be able to understand it,” Rove began.

“But the other point, the polls, I want to talk about that a little bit if possible, because I think we should put that in perspective. On this day in 2020, Joe Biden was 7.1% ahead of Donald Trump in the RealClearPolitics average. And at this point in 2016, Hillary Clinton was 6.3% ahead. And as you remember, the election came down to a handful of votes in a handful of states. And today, Harris is 1.5% ahead of Trump in the RealClearPolitics average and 3.5% in the 538.com average.”

“So she’s ahead in both averages, but she’s not nearly as far ahead as Biden and Clinton,” he continued. “And as we know, Clinton lost and Biden won in three states by 42,000 votes. To complicate things further, we’re talking about national numbers here, and we have a bunch of polls, 8 to 10 polls that make up those averages, but how does she do and how does he do in the swing states, the 6 or 7 swing states? We don’t have nearly as many, we have a couple of polls in multiple states, but we certainly don’t have 6 or 7 or 8 polls that would give us an average and therefore give us a better idea of where they actually stand.”
