Big 12 Announces Preseason Women’s Soccer Poll

Irving, Texas BYU was voted by the conference’s head coaches as the projected champions of the 2024 Big 12 football season. The Cougars are the first team to be voted atop the preseason poll in consecutive years since West Virginia’s seven-year winning streak from 2013-2019.

The 2024 season will be the first for the Big 12 as a 16-team league with the debut of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah and the return of Colorado.

For the second year in a row, just one point separated the top two teams. BYU received nine first-place finishes and 206 points, while Texas Tech, the 2023 regular-season champion, claimed six first-place finishes and 205 points. TCU finished third with 197 points and received one first-place finish.

New members Colorado and Arizona State completed the top five of the poll with 174 and 157 points, respectively.

Last season, BYU reached the NCAA Women’s College Cup for the second time in three seasons, while the Red Raiders made it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Arizona State and Colorado also received postseason bids.

The season starts on August 15th, all 16 teams are in action, the Big 12 games begin on September 12th.
