High temperatures are expected in Louisville ahead of Labor Day weekend, with highs of between 35 and 40 degrees expected in the coming days.
National Weather Service meteorologist Chase Graham said the heat expected in the region will be the “hottest temperatures of the summer,” with temperatures feeling as high as 40 degrees on some afternoons this week.

Louisville is expected to see the highest summer temperatures in the coming days
Graham said temperatures would be high throughout the week, with light winds and some humidity.
“So far this summer, our highest temperature at the Louisville airport is 96 degrees,” he said. “For comparison, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week we had even higher temperatures.”
NWS meteorologist Michael Kochasic said Tuesday morning the forecast remained relatively unchanged. Conditions are expected to be dry rather than humid, which will help keep the heat index low.
When will temperatures get cooler in the Louisville area?
Graham said temperatures over the weekend were expected to cool slightly to 35 to 27 degrees Celsius and to “typical summer temperatures” due to a cold front moving through on Friday.

Tuesday
The seven-day forecast calls for highs around 98 and a heat index value of up to 100 with sunny skies. Southwest winds of 5-7 mph are expected in the afternoon, with temperatures dropping to as low as 73 in the evening.
Wednesday
The NWS is predicting highs of 98 degrees and southwest winds of 6 mph. The heat index will be 101 degrees and temperatures will drop to as low as 74 degrees at night.
Thursday
Thursday is expected to be sunny, with highs around 98 and lows around 74.
