IDF: 90% of Hezbollah launch sites hit on Sunday were near civilian areas, including schools and UN sites

The Israel Defense Forces said on Tuesday that around 90 percent of Hezbollah rocket launch sites they attacked on Sunday in preparation for a planned large-scale attack The Israeli investigators were near civilian areas in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah has “placed its terrorist infrastructure in the heart of the civilian population, using Lebanese civilians as human shields. 90 percent of the attacks came from the heart of civilian areas, near civilian facilities such as mosques, schools, UN sites, etc.,” he added.
Hagari attached several images showing the proximity of some Hezbollah rocket launchers to civilian buildings. For example, in the Hanniyeh area, a rocket launcher was only about 150 meters from a UN building.

In Tallouseh, about a dozen launch pads were placed between a school and a mosque, only 150 to 160 meters apart.
“We warn civilians in the areas where Hezbollah operates to immediately leave the danger zone for their own safety,” Hagari said.

Footage of Sunday’s Israeli strikes showed massive secondary explosions caused by the detonation of the munitions, as well as ready-to-launch rockets flying off in unpredictable directions amid the explosions.

This underscores the immediate danger to the Lebanese civilian population living near Hezbollah military bases scattered throughout southern Lebanon.

“About 90 percent of the targets attacked were short-range missiles and rocket launchers aimed at the north of the country. In addition, at least six terrorists were eliminated,” Hagari said.
Despite the Israeli operation, “Hezbollah fired about 230 rockets and over 20 unmanned aerial vehicles. Most of them fell en route to Israeli territory, in open terrain or were intercepted by air force and naval defense systems.”
