“Autumn in August” continued today, but are you hoping for more summer sun? For those who like it warmer, get excited! More blue skies and warmth are expected before the month ends, but we’ll have to battle through another rainy night before that becomes a reality.

In the short term, another summer storm is moving into Canada tonight, and the front will pass us on its way into Canada. We’ll see increasing rain overnight and into Tuesday morning near the British Columbia border, especially in Bellingham, Port Angeles and Forks. Isolated rumbles and lightning are also possible. In Puget Sound, isolated showers will make for damp soccer practices or dog walks through Monday evening near Seattle and Tacoma. Lows will drop to 10 degrees.

Tuesday will be a transition day, bridging from last week’s cool and damp weather to warmer sunshine as we move towards the end of August. Highs on Tuesday will remain mostly around 15 degrees, which is still cool for this time of year.

After that, much warmer weather is on the horizon, thanks to a ridge of high pressure forming over the western United States. Temperatures are expected to be in the 25-30s for the rest of the week, with highs around 27 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday as we move into the holiday weekend. Labor Day itself looks a little cooler, with clouds in the morning followed by sunshine in the afternoon and highs around 21 degrees. Overall, it’s looking very nice for the unofficial end of summer! Another camping trip or barbecue would be a great way to celebrate the season and welcome September.

Have a nice night,
Shannon
