Author Ford also revealed that he originally envisioned the lead role as a man, but that “everything became more interesting” when he started putting a woman at the center.
“There was more at stake for the woman – for whatever reason – but the real reason is that I started thinking about the character herself,” he added.
Additionally, Plaza’s latest film, My Old Ass, received critical acclaim after its premiere at Sundance, achieving a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film is about a queer teenager named Elliott (Maisy Stella) who takes mushrooms and meets her future self (Plaza).
