LEAVENWORTH – The Friends of the Leavenworth Library will hold its annual used book sale from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6. The event promotes literacy and supports the Leavenworth Public Library.

The sale takes place at the intersection of 8th and Commercial Streets in downtown Leavenworth and offers donated books in categories such as crime, children’s literature, romance, history, gardening and arts and crafts. Visitors can purchase a book bag, fill it with books and make a donation.

Proceeds from the sale support community programs, including a third-grade book day. This initiative allows students in grades 1-3 to select new books, with third-graders taking a field trip to the Leavenworth library and a local bookstore. The Friends also fund special projects, parties, and prizes for the summer library program. In addition, they save money for future endeavors, including the potential relocation of the Leavenworth branch.

The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day on weekdays and until 6 p.m. on weekends, and ends at noon on Sunday, October 6. The volunteer-only event accepts Venmo, cash and checks.
