A definitive ranking of all Glen Powell films

Glen Powell Is everywhere right now. Can I say we are in a Glen-aissance? (I’m sorry…)

Seriously, Powell is quickly becoming everyone’s favorite leading man. As he makes his way through Hollywood with his various roles, from heartthrob to action hero, he’s booking more and more movies. And while we always love to see him looking good on screen, Powell has had a pretty robust career outside of his recent blockbusters too – including some indie films and interesting looking characters (Chad Powers not yet included). So here are some of the best Filmssorted by performance!

Glen Powell in Top Gun: Maverick

Paramount Pictures

1. Top Shooter: Maverick (2022)

Let’s start with Glen Powell‘s role as Lieutenant Jake “Hangman” Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick. He nailed the confident, cocky pilot vibe and gave us “Iceman” flashbacks from the original. Powell’s executioner is the guy you love to hate but still root for in the end. Critics and fans alike loved his charismatic performance, which made him one of the film’s standout stars. And honestly, he was a lot of fun to watch.

2. Furnish (2018)

This is 100% one of my favorite romantic comedies of the 2010s. FurnishPowell plays Charlie, an overworked assistant who teams up with another assistant (Zoey Deutch) to confuse their bosses. What could go wrong, right? Well, apparently a lot – but in the best way. Powell’s chemistry with Deutch is incredible and their playful banter makes this a Netflix an absolute must-see. It’s one of those feel-good movies that you can watch again and again, and Powell’s charming performance is a big reason why.

Glen Powell in “Everybody Wants Some!!”

Paramount Pictures

3. Everyone wants something!! (2016)

This film is highly underrated. Directed by Richard Linklater, Everyone wants something!! is a spiritual continuation of Dazed and confused. Powell shines as Finnegan, a talkative college baseball player who is always up for a laugh. This film is like a trip back to the ’80s, full of epic parties and plenty of laughs. Powell’s Finnegan is the guy you’d want to hang out with – charming, witty, and always ready with a philosophical one-liner. His laid-back demeanor made him the life of the party on screen, winning over critics and audiences alike.

Glen Powell in everyone but you

Possibly the romantic comedy of the year, Powell and Sydney Sweeney Leading role in “Will They or Won’t They” Everyone except you. The film is about two people who fake a relationship only to find out that there might be something there. The film was entertaining and easy to watch and definitely deserves its place as a classic. romantic comedy.

The movie everyone is talking about this summer. Twistersthe sequel to the 1996 film Twisterswith Glen Powell in the leading role alongside Daisy Edgar Jones (sigh, such wonderful people). This action film follows Tyler (an Arkansas “tornado fighter”), Kate (a brilliant meteorologist with a traumatic past), and Javi (one of Kate’s former research partners). Glen Powell in sex education class

6. Sex education (2014)

Sex education In The 40 Years of Sex, Glen Powell plays Ed Cole, a rookie teacher who teaches sex education to middle school students despite having no teaching or classroom experience. The film is a raunchy and entertaining comedy with heart, and Powell’s portrayal of the well-meaning but clueless Ed was praised for her humor and sincerity. Powell’s ability to combine comedy with a little emotional depth helped make the film one of the highest-grossing films ever made. Sex education a memorable entry in his filmography.

Glen Powell in Wind Walkers

Iron Circle Pictures

7. Windrunner (2014)

In Windrunnera horror thriller, Powell plays Sonny Childe, a soldier returning home from war who faces a mysterious supernatural threat. The film tackles themes such as PTSD and Native American mythology, and although it received mixed reviews, Powell’s performance was praised for its intensity and commitment. Glen Powell in The Wicked

Romance Entertainment

8. The bad guys (2018)

In The bad guysGlen Powell stars in this action-packed film about a group of criminals who come together to pull off a major heist. Powell’s portrayal of a charismatic but morally questionable character gives the film a thrilling edge. Although it did not receive as much critical acclaim as some of his other works, The bad guys demonstrated Powell’s ability to handle action-oriented roles with confidence and style.

Glen Powell in Hit Man

Netflix

9. HitMan (2023)

I have to admit – HitMan is perhaps my least favorite Glen Powell film. Glen must be credited for juggling many, many roles for this film, starring, co-writing and producing it. The black comedy follows Glen’s character, an undercover cop who poses as a hitman. This film did not win me over, but I understand why this unconventional film is loved by so many. Also, I will never complain while I watch Powell, you know?

Glen Powell in Scream Queens

Fox Broadcasting Co.

Honorable Mention: Scream Queens (2015–2016)

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my favorite Glen Powell role: Chad Radwell in Scream Queens. It’s not a movie, but in my opinion, this is his best role yet. Chad is an over-the-top fraternity student who is equal parts charming, clueless, and ridiculous. As the president of the Dicky Dollar Scholars fraternity, Chad is known for his absurd antics, cheesy one-liners, and unwavering confidence even when things get scary.
