Xbox brings Game Pass to more Amazon TV devices

When Xbox announced that it would be bringing its Game Pass subscription service to Amazon’s Fire TV devices, there was initial frustration that this only applied to newer generation models. Today, however, Xbox and Amazon have confirmed that Game Pass will now be compatible with older Fire TV devices as well.

In particular, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st generation) and Fire TV Cube (3rd generation) have been added to the list of devices that support Game Pass, allowing users to stream Xbox games on any TV. The reason for this update is likely because these devices are not outdated in terms of processing power.

For example, when I investigated the Fire TV Cube, I found that it actually has the most powerful CPU of any Fire TV Stick 4K model, including the latest. This helped understand why some users pointed out that Game Pass was originally incompatible with these devices. However, someone informed me that Game Pass worked on the Fire TV Cube when sideloading the app.

Overall, this is great news for anyone who doesn’t want to invest in a new device just to access Xbox games without owning a console. However, after testing Game Pass on the latest Fire TV Stick, I still think the Xbox Series X is the best option – unless you prefer to play on PC.
