Habitat is hosting a summer warehouse sale on Saturday

Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County is hosting its annual summer warehouse sale this Saturday. Items available include building materials, replacement windows, interior/exterior doors, furniture and more.

The event will take place at Habitat’s headquarters at 2930 West 4th Street beginning at 8 a.m. All proceeds will benefit Habitat’s building materials fund for home building.

“These warehouse sales are such an important economic driver for Habitat’s mission in this community,” said Summer Aldridge, a member of Habitat’s fundraising committee. “Habitat holds warehouse sales three to four times a year to raise funds for the organization. The community (individuals and businesses) donates used or surplus items – such as furniture, appliances, or materials for home renovations – and the items we cannot use in our projects are used for fundraising.”

Everything is on a first come, first served basis. Habitat asks for donations for the items and customers are selected from applicants in Habitat’s homeownership program.

“There are a few things I really like about these events,” said Jeremy Stephens, Habitat’s executive director. “First, 100% of all donations received go directly to the building fund with no administration costs deducted. It is very important to the organization that we are always excellent stewards of the funds donated. Second, I like the fact that our applicants are actively involved in everything we do, from helping with construction on site to raising funds for their own homes. These amazing people have done the work and truly deserve the home they end up building.”

The event will take place regardless of weather. Donations for items can be made by cash, check, credit card, Venmo or PayPal.
