Women’s football club with several transgender players wins league title and remains undefeated
An Australian women’s soccer club that includes several transgender players finished its season in the Women’s Premier League in northwest Sydney undefeated and as champions.
The controversial Flying Bats FC defeated West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC 5-4.

Flying Bats FC won all of their games for the season, scoring 65 goals while allowing just four. West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook won 12 games and lost just two. They scored 43 goals and allowed 17.
Flying Bats FC came under fire earlier this year when it won the preseason Beryl Ackroyd Cup, awarding prize money of $1,000, according to news.au.com, and proudly describes itself as a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community.
But just like in March, Flying Bats FC came under fire on social media for winning the championship with transgender players on the team. The club reportedly has up to five transgender players on the team competing in the women’s league.

“Final score. Flying Bats FC win the Premiership and the Grand Final. Transgender men are crowned champions in the Women’s Premier League Division,” wrote Australian journalist Lucy Zelić on X.
“Somehow this is supposed to represent progress. Somehow the guardians of our game don’t care.”
West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC took the defeat calmly.

“Our Premier (League Women’s) team gave it their all this afternoon at Christie Park and lost 5-4 to the Flying Bats in heartbreaking fashion. You embodied everything it means to play for our club in an incredible 90 minutes of football. We couldn’t be prouder of you girls,” the club wrote on Facebook.
