HIALEAH, Florida. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an “active criminal investigation” was underway Monday afternoon after state police troopers found a dead man in a truck parked on the Palmetto Expressway in Hialeah.
FHP Lt. Alex Camacho said patrol officers responded shortly after noon “to a call regarding a suspicious silver Ford pickup truck parked on the shoulder” in the northbound lanes near the Northwest 103rd Street exit.
Camacho said officers found a dead man in the vehicle after they arrived. Video footage from Sky 10 showed a portion of the highway cordoned off with police tape and a yellow tarp covering part of the pickup truck’s windows.
Authorities have not publicly released the man’s identity or said whether they have determined a possible cause of death.
Hialeah police have now taken over the investigation, Camacho said.
A Hialeah police spokesman said the department is “asking any witnesses with information regarding this incident” to contact them at 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
