Jeanie Buss praises Bronny James’ work ethic and commitment

Guard Bronny James is a very polarizing addition to the Los Angeles Lakers roster. The second-round draft pick from the University of Southern California appears to have some potential as a contributor in the future, likely as a backup, but many believe the only reason he is on the team is the influence of his father, LeBron, and his agent, Rich Paul, who both represent members of the James family.

Some even believe that the younger James doesn’t belong in the NBA at all.

However, during an appearance on Los Angeles station AM 570, Lakers governor Jeanie Buss praised him for his work ethic and dedication, even saying she hopes everyone else on the roster will have the same attitude (h/t Yardbarker).

“Yeah, I mean, we have to give the kid an opportunity to play and prove that he belongs in the Lakers uniform,” Buss said. “And everything we’ve seen from him and his work ethic are just some of the things he’s had to overcome as the son of a big star. He works hard, he’s dedicated. He really wants to get this done. And when we have a roster with players that have that same mentality, I think the sky’s the limit.”

The younger James struggled for a long time in the summer league, but in his last two games he shot well, especially from outside. Overall he showed good defensive instincts and was praised for his effort and potential on the defensive end.

If he can ever figure out how to consistently make long shots both off the dribble and off passes from his teammates, maybe he can silence his critics and have a successful NBA career.
