Fundraiser launched for man injured by falling tree near Enderby – Vernon News

Injured by falling tree

A fundraiser has been launched for a North Okanagan man after a tree fell on him last month.

Sean O’Neill started the GoFundMe campaign on behalf of his friend Christopher English.

On July 4, English was seriously injured in an accident in Enderby.

“A large Christmas tree fell approximately 70 feet to the ground and struck Chris directly on the head. He was flown by rescue helicopter to Kelowna where he underwent emergency brain surgery. He suffered a traumatic brain injury,” O’Neill wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“Due to unfortunate circumstances, there is no financial security for this incident. His wife, Mel Williams, was forced to make the difficult decision to close her business in order to help Chris and care for the children.”

English was released from the hospital on August 13 and will continue his recovery at home.

“He would like to go back to work, but the specialists are limiting his ability to do so until he has undergone further tests and therapy,” O’Neill said.

“It’s absolutely amazing that he survived this accident, but the bills are piling up for the family.”

The fundraising goal is $20,000.
