BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team defeated No. 4 Salt Lake Community College in straight sets at the FSW Battle at the Beach tournament on Saturday.

The No. 19 Titans, who now have a 2-1 record this season, took the wins by scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-23.

Sophomore Libby Ashline got the Titans off to a quick start with a couple of blocks, a kill and an ace in the first nine points of the set. The Titans quickly took a 10-3 lead and won the first set comfortably.

Ashline put the Titans ahead again in the second set by scoring the first two kills. It remained close until the Titans went on a 5-0 run thanks to serving from Mariana Bueno Lopes, who scored two aces. Salt Lake took the lead late, cutting its nine-point lead to four before closing out the match.

The third set was close at the start, but the Titans took the lead again thanks to some kills from Lesmary Raffucci. Salt Lake tied it at 20-20 and the teams traded points at the end, but the Titans took the win 25-23.

Dominae Jordan finished with 12 kills, Ashline had eight and Raffucci had six. Sarah Henault had 10 digs and Sophia Iglesias had 20 assists.

The Titans finish the tournament at 4:30 p.m. against Missouri State-West Plains.
