Everyone looks to different sources for motivation, and New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis shared his own source with us. He was a five-time All-Pro with the Saints after a rocky start to his career with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns, when he nearly considered retirement after a disastrous 1-15 season.
Davis has come a long way, and when he needs to reflect on how far football has taken him, he looks at his pre-draft scouting report. He has this report from Bleacher Report’s Nick Kostora saved on his phone and read it aloud during a recent post-practice media session.
To Kostora’s credit, the report was mostly positive — he did point out that if Davis had achieved the same stats at a more prestigious program than Arkansas State, he might not have made it to Rex Ryan’s Jets in the third round of the 2012 draft. Still, it’s a good way for Davis to keep track of his NFL performances, and if that’s what motivates him to shine week in and week out for the Saints, we’ll gladly take it.
