“Ted Lasso” Season 4 in the works

It looks like fans have a Ted Lasso At least season four.

Warner Bros. Television has secured options on three cast members from the original three seasons who were signed to British actors’ union Equity. Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift have been asked to reprise their roles as Rebecca Walton, Roy Kent and Leslie Higgins, respectively. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

That puts the Emmy-winning football comedy on track for a fourth season. Once those options are secured, the studio will have to negotiate new contracts for the show’s other core cast members, who are represented by SAG-AFTRA, including co-creators/executive producers and stars Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, as well as Juno Temple.

Representatives for WBTV declined to comment. THR has also turned to Apple TV+.

Plans for season four were seemingly up in the air after the planned three-part season ended in May 2023. Many of the series’ actors revealed after the season three finale, which felt very much like a series Finale that they weren’t sure if there would be another episode of the comedy series. However, the stars also expressed their desire to continue telling their stories in some form.

Ted LassoThe main characters had happy endings. (Spoiler alert!) Sudeikis’ Ted returned to Kansas to be with his son and ex-wife; Hunts Beard apparently got married at Stonehenge; Rebecca (Waddingham) and Keeley (Temple) plan to start a women’s team in Richmond; and Roy takes over as manager of AFC Richmond and decides to start therapy.

Earlier this month, series co-creator Bill Lawrence admitted that a fourth season of the show would depend on Sudeikis, who had to turn his life upside down when he had two young children with his ex-girlfriend Olivia Wilde.

“Even without speaking to each other and every actor, actress, writer and producer on the show — and (we didn’t) come together and decide that was the message — we all loved the experience,” Lawrence said. “As fans, we would all kill to see it start up again, but everyone would say the same thing, which is: Whatever Jason wants to do and whatever his decision is, we’re all in.”

He added: “He’s not only the star, he’s the head writer, and he’s the guy who has to completely turn his life around and move to a foreign country with young children. It’s a big deal. So if someone as a fan says, ‘Oh, that’s going to happen again,’ I go crazy. As a partner, I’m up for whatever he wants to do.”
