Georgia Tech was the subject of jokes after becoming the first team of the college football season to win on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets, who defeated No. 10 Florida State 24-21 in Dublin, Ireland, posted a famous LeBron James meme, an EA Sports College Football 25 troll and a shoutout to Sheamus, the WWE wrestler who picked Georgia Tech to win on College GameDay.

Georgia Tech’s upset victory over Florida State on Saturday was the perfect start to the college football season. The Yellow Jackets and Seminoles traded blows throughout the game before Georgia Tech kicker Aidan Birr took the lead with a 44-yard field goal as time expired.

The win was the Yellow Jackets’ first top-10 victory since 2015, also in dramatic fashion against Florida State.

The Seminoles entered the season after going undefeated in the regular season and falling in the College Football Playoff. With a revamped roster led by coveted quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, Florida State hoped to get its quest for a CFP berth off to a good start, but instead the team will need to play its best football the rest of the year to keep its championship hopes alive.

Georgia Tech is now looking to make a run at the ACC Championship and maybe even the College Football Playoff. The Yellow Jackets were considered a promising team at the start of the year, but calling them championship contenders was a bit of an exaggeration.

After Saturday’s victory, this idea may not be too far-fetched.
