Bill Nickerson is honored with the David N. Theis Award for outstanding service to the community

The Glenville Volunteer Fire Department (GVFC) celebrates the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the
David N. Theis Award for outstanding service to the community by honoring William H. “Bill” Nickerson for his service to the City of Greenwich.

Bill’s nearly forty years of service to Greenwich began in 1969 as a member of the RTM and continued with his election as a State Representative and State Senator. His dedication embodies the spirit of Dave Theis, and the Glenville Volunteer Firefighters are pleased to recognize his hard work for our city and honor Bill with this year’s award.

The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 17th at the Tamarack Country Club and will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m.

Invitations will be sent to previous participants, but anyone wishing to participate or contribute goods or services to our silent auction is asked to contact the GVFC via email (email protected) or by phone at (203) 532-9606.

The annual award recognizes Dave Theis’ exemplary leadership and selfless commitment to the people and organizations of the city.

Previous winners include Mary Hull, Livvy Floren, Icy and Scott Frantz, Ed Dadakis, Bea and Peter Crumbine, Larry Simon and Terry Betteridge, and former fire chief Dan Warzoha and Kerrin Coyle.

Founded in 1903, the Glenville Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Greenwich. Through fundraising efforts, the GVFC has been able to purchase specialized equipment that greatly aids in its mission to serve Greenwich.
