2 hospitalized after pickup truck hits motorcycle in Killingworth: PD

KILLINGWORTH, CT — Two people were thrown from a motorcycle and seriously injured in Killingworth on Friday when a pickup truck ignored a stop sign and struck their vehicle, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 4:46 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Route 80 and Roast Meat Hill Road. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on Route 80 while a Toyota Tacoma was traveling south on Roast Meat Hill Road toward the intersection, according to state police.

Witnesses told police that the Tacoma driver ignored a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by the motorcycle on the driver’s side. A man and a woman were thrown from the Harley and suffered what are believed to be serious injuries, authorities said.

One person on the motorcycle was flown to Yale New Haven Hospital, while the other motorcycle occupant was driven there, officials said. Police have not yet determined who was driving the Harley.

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

No charges have been filed yet, but police say they will take action after further investigation. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has additional information can call Troop F barracks and speak to Tpr. Rennie #441 at 860-399-2100.
