Changes in subway and rail traffic: August 23-26

Happy Friday and welcome to the last full weekend of August! We’re looking forward to perfect summer weather this weekend. Whether you’re heading to the last weekend of US Open Fan Week, enjoying the Summer Streets in Brooklyn or the Bronx, or spending the weekend in another way, public transportation is the way to go for weekend summer fun.

If you are traveling to JFK Airport this weekend, please note the following: Trains do not run to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport . Take the to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport or the to Howard Beach-JFK Airport .

Here’s what else is happening this weekend (also available as a handy map):

  • Trains will not run between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St in either direction, replacing ​ Trains between Eastchester-Dyre Av and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
  • There are no trains in Brooklyn.
  • There are no trains running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square-42 St.
  • There are no trains running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  • There are no trains running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.
  • There are no trains running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.

Major changes in subway operations

Trains, the Bronx

From Saturday 3:30 am to Sunday 10:00 pm, Trains will not run between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St in either direction, replacing Trains between Eastchester-Dyre Av and 149 St-Grand Concourse in both directions. This is due to structural maintenance.

  • For service between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St, take free shuttle buses that stop all stops.
    • Alternatively, you can take the intercity buses to stations.
  • For service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and 149 St-Grand Concourse, take the .
  • Trains run between Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College and E 180 St, and on the from/to Eastchester-Dyre Av.
  • Trains run every 20 minutes between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Bowling Green during the day and evening.
  • Woodlawn-bound and 149 St-bound From Friday 9:45 p.m. to Monday 5:00 a.m., trains do not stop at 138 St-Grand Concourse.
    • To get to/from this station, take a bus toward Manhattan. .

Trains, Brooklyn

Due to station improvement work, there will be no trains running in Brooklyn from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

  • For service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take the which runs to/from New Lots Av all weekend, including overnight.
    • Transfer between And Trains at Fulton St.
  • Trains run between Woodlawn and Bowling Green.

Trains, Manhattan and Queens

Due to track replacement, there will be no trains running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square-42 Street from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 4:30 a.m. Monday.

  • For a direct connection between Manhattan and Queens, take trains.
    • Special weekend Service runs every 20 minutes between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Whitehall St. on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The LIRR Port Washington Branch will carry subway riders at no additional charge for service between Mets-Willets Point, Woodside, Grand Central and Penn Station.
  • Free Q93 shuttle buses run Stops between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av.
  • The 42 St shuttle trains run all weekend, including at night.
  • The trains run in two sections:
    • Between Flushing-Main St and Queensboro Plaza, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
    • Between Times Square-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards, every 10 minutes during the day and evening.

Trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

Due to signal upgrades, there will be no trains running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5:00 a.m. Monday in either direction.

  • For service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take the free B90 Shuttle buses that all stops.
    • If you exit the subway at Church Avenue or Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, get a GO ticket from a station attendant to re-board.
  • For a direct connection between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take ​​​ trains.
  • To get to the W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the ​.
  • Trains run between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

Trains, Brooklyn and Queens

Due to signal upgrades, there will be no trains running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av until Tuesday, September 3.

  • Free B93 shuttle buses run between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Jay St-MetroTech whereby all Stops between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn .
  • Reboard the subway with OMNY or MetroCard at the Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn stations. or Jay St-MetroTech .
  • Trains stop continuously between Myrtle Av and Marcy Av.
    • Use OMNY or MetroCard for free off-system transfers between Broadway and Hewes St or Lorimer St .
  • Trains run every 10 minutes between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs during the day and evening.

Trains, Brooklyn and Queens

Due to track replacement, there will be no trains running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday in either direction.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses run between Jamaica Van-Wyck and Crescent St, so that all Stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • If you exit the subway at the Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St. stop, get a GO ticket from a station attendant to re-board.
  • For connections to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport take the .
  • Trains run between Crescent St and Broad St.

Further changes in subway operations

Trains, Manhattan

City center And Due to work to improve communications infrastructure, commuter trains will not stop at 68 St-Hunter College from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

  • To get to/from this station, take a commuter train heading uptown. Or consider the nearby 59 St or 77 St stations or the M101, M102 or M103 buses, which stop along Lexington Avenue.

Trains, Manhattan

City center Due to accessibility improvements, trains will not stop at 175th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

  • To get to/from this station, take a train into the city center.

Uptown Due to accessibility improvements, trains will not stop at 175th Street from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

  • To get to/from this station, take a train into the city center.

Trains, Brooklyn

Towards Bay Ridge and towards Coney Island Due to a track replacement, commuter trains will make express stops between Atlantic Avenue and Barclays Center and 59th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

  • For connections to/from Union St, 4 Av-9 St, Prospect Av and 25 St, take the that runs all weekend between DeKalb Av and 36 St.
  • For connections to/from 45th and 53rd Streets, take a commuter train toward Manhattan.

Service changes at Metro-North Railroad

Danbury Branch

There will be no trains between South Norwalk and Danbury from 4:30 a.m. Friday to 2:00 a.m. Monday.

  • Between South Norwalk and Danbury, trains will be replaced by buses.
    • Arriving buses depart earlier than scheduled trains.
    • Express and local buses are available for some trains.
    • View the full bus schedule.
  • There are no through trains on Friday.
    • Some New Haven Line trains operate on modified schedules during rush hour with additional stops in Noroton Heights, Darien and Rowayton.
    • Check TrainTime or timetables to see if your journey is affected.
