BOONE COUNTY – A Thorntown woman died Thursday afternoon as a result of a two-vehicle crash in Boone County.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Lebanon Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck and a pickup truck near the intersection of County Road 500 South and State Road 39 at 2:21 p.m.

According to BCSO, the pickup truck was traveling north on State Road 39 before the crash, entering Boone County from the Hendricks County border.

Boone County dispatch received a call that the pickup truck was driving recklessly before leaving its lane and colliding head-on with a dump truck, according to the BCSO.

Upon arrival, rescuers found a silver and red 1994 GMC 1500 containing 43-year-old Nicole Spann of Thorntown, Indiana, and a red and white dump truck containing 36-year-old Brandon Buchanan of Gosport, Indiana.

In addition, “significant damage” was reported to the road at the scene of the accident.

Spann was pronounced dead at the scene. Buchanan was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was assigned to investigate.
