Golden police search for stolen truck that injured police officer in hit-and-run

Authorities are searching for a stolen truck that injured a Golden Police officer and fled the scene Friday morning.

The Ford F-250 truck, which is white and has moderate damage to the driver’s door and rear passenger door, was last seen near West 10th Avenue and North Perry Street in Denver. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

The Golden Police Department’s news release Friday afternoon did not include any information describing the suspect.

However, the department confirmed that the injured officer suffered only minor injuries and was released from the local hospital.

At around 8:15 a.m., Golden Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s officers attempted to recover a stolen truck at the Home Depot in the 16900 block of West Colfax Avenue, the agency described.

Officers attempted to arrest the suspect and the truck using a vehicle immobilizer, but were unsuccessful as the driver reportedly rammed police vehicles and left the parking lot. The driver also reportedly struck and injured the GPD officer, GPD said.

Officers from the GPD and JCSO pursued the vehicle into Denver, but the suspect’s driving was deemed to be increasingly unsafe and posed a threat to public safety, so authorities ended the pursuit near 10th Avenue and Perry Street.

As of 3:30 p.m. on Friday, the suspect had not been located and the investigation was ongoing.
