Late Night with the Devilstarring David Dastmalchian. The 94-minute film grossed around $4.5 million at the box office.

In a violent nature also received mostly positive reviews from critics, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 78 percent. Horror author Stephen King also gave the slasher his seal of approval, writing on X: In a violent nature “is just the ticket” for anyone looking for a slasher film. “It’s slow-paced, almost languid, but when the blood flows, it flows in torrents. “In a Violent Nature” gets a sequel

At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, IFC Films and Shudder jointly announced In a violent nature 2. “In a violent nature was originally conceived as a meta-sequel to a fictional slasher series, so we always envisioned chaos beyond the scope of the original film,” producer Peter Kuplowsky shared in a statement. “To now have the opportunity to continue following Johnny on his restless journey makes us incredibly grateful to our incredible partners at IFC Films/Shudder, who believed in Chris (Nash’s) vision from day one. We’re thrilled to return for a new chapter and excited to use Johnny as a facilitator for further experimentation in the genre.”

The creative team of “In a Violent Nature” already has ideas for future sequels

If In a violent nature 2 is as successful as the first, there’s a good chance IFC Films and Shudder will reunite for a third film. While plot details for the upcoming sequel remain under wraps, special effects supervisor Steven Kostanski shared where Johnny is headed next in June 2024. “I wouldn’t mind seeing him end up in the suburbs at some point. Just the feeling of walking around in a back alley with that character – somewhere while people are just living their lives – is pretty eerie. That would cross my mind,” he said. “And then maybe in the fourth part he goes into space. We’ll see,” he added, likely referring to how the Friday the 13th Franchise took Jason into space in 2001 Jason X.
