Report: Blade director still working on Marvel film despite earlier exit – News about comic and superhero films

Marvel’s long-awaited project blade starring Mahershala Ali has faced numerous problems since its announcement. However, it was recently revealed that French director Yann Demange, who previously left Blade, is reportedly still involved in the project. The film, expected to be released in 2025, has been the target of numerous delays and script issues, leaving MCU fans impatient and worried about its fate.

Demange became part of Mahershala Ali’s Blade after original director Bassim Tariq dropped out in 2022. Ali has been playing the role of Marvel’s vampire hunter since the film was announced in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, but directors seem to be constantly changing. In June 2024, a report from Deadline confirmed that Demange had also dropped out of the project. However, since the exit update, there has been no official confirmation from Marvel about Demange’s current status and connection to Blade.

Aside from the problem of directors leaving the project, Blade is also struggling with a writing crisis. The film’s script has also been rewritten, and new writer Eric Pearson is reportedly currently working on it.

Recently, Wesley Snipes, who played the character Blade in the old trilogy, once again made a cameo appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. Snipes commented on the constant delays caused by directors and writers dropping out that Blade (2025) is facing, telling Entertainment Weekly, “I yelled at him (Mahershala Ali) and told him he had my blessing and support. I even pointed out that some of the challenges they’re facing now on the project shouldn’t be attributed to him.”

“It’s not the actor’s fault. There’s a lot more that goes into pulling off this Blade thing. You need a lot of secret sauces to pull off the Blade thing, man,” he added.
